In the Fall of 2021, Bob Bodily, Ph.D., reached out to a few friends and family members about an up-and-coming blockchain with serious potential—the Internet Computer (IC). In particular, he reached out concerning something the IC was lacking, something grievous. It didn’t have a 2D RPG. The idea spread, a team formed, and thousands of hours have since gone to building a deep-story, original 2D masterpiece.

Here, I list a few points about what the Internet Computer does to help enable success of an on-chain video game like Obsidian Tears as it tries to run comfortably while allowing it’s player base to easily trade and mint NFT’s.

As a short introduction, Obsidian Tears is currently under development and falls under the ‘2D RPG’ genre. It’s gameplay will be similar to Zelda: A Link to the Past and Final Fantasy 2. Unlike Zelda and Final Fantasy, however, it will feature the playable character, artifacts, weapons, armor, etc. all as NFTs.
It is expected that the player base for Obsidian Tears will be frequently finding, trading, and minting new NFT’s as they explore the game’s world, follow the story-line, and take on additional side-quests.
